I made something for you, and it’s free. It’s a workbook for building a Rule of Life, and you’re welcome to download it, print it, and use it however it helps you, on your own, with a friend, or with a small group.

Many of the people I sit with tell me the same thing in different words: “I love God, but my days feel scattered.” A Rule of Life is an old and gentle answer to that ache. It is a simple shape for your days, like a trellis for a young vine. The vine does the growing. The trellis gives it something to lean on.
This 30-page workbook walks slowly through the Psalms, Proverbs, and the Gospel of John. Along the way you will pray the Lord’s Prayer phrase by phrase, try the Daily Examen of St. Ignatius, practice lectio divina and visio divina, and meet the Liturgy of the Hours, the Rosary, the sacraments, Sabbath, and quiet service. St. Benedict, Augustine, and Thérèse sit at the table with Luther, Calvin, Wesley, and Bonhoeffer. Where Catholics and Protestants see things differently, short notes say so kindly, so you can pray with a clear conscience from wherever you stand.
There is plenty of room to write, and every page is made for a pen. Go slowly. Begin smaller than you think you should. And if you would like someone to walk with you as you shape your Rule, I would be glad to hear from you.
US Letter, 30 pages, free to print and share for personal and small-group use.
Grace and peace to you in Christ,
